R:BASE has the perfect command for this:
DELETE ROWS FROM <tablename> WHERE <condition(s)>
The <condition(s)> may very well be what Jim Belisle suggested earlier:
a date; before which date, you have twenty years worth of rows to
delete.
If <tableName> is "oldStuff" and <condition(s)> mean any date in the
"stuffDate" column before December 31, 2019, the code would look like:
DELETE ROWS FROM oldstuff WHERE stuffDate <= 12/31/2019
This example presumes that your DATE FORMAT is set as:
SET DATE MM/DD/YYYY
This is not the only way to do this, and not, in fact the safest; but
the alternative is for another email.
**CAUTION/CUIDADO** There ARE other considerations. Are there rows in
other tables which depend upon the data in the rows you want to delete?
Have you considered how you wish to deal with that related data? Will
you break historical reports? With archive drive space being so
inexpensive, is this the best approach?
Your question may require a closer look at your situation, and a more
detailed approach to a solution; so by all means, provide more detail if
you like.
