I like to project a table using the where clause of the command I would use to 
delete. That way I can append it or the necessary rows back to the original 
table if I need to. I use a name like Back[tablename]. 

It gives you a way to practice without amputating parts you need. 

I also backup or unload my database regularly, after working on it or adding 
data, and before doing a significant [read critical or dangerous] operation. 

I have never been disappointed I had another [recent!] backup. 

If your key columns are indexed, there may not be much performance benefit from 
removing outdated rows.
