My question was rather bare-boned.
(1) The copy/paste is not an issue.
(2) Providing the original table and its renamed copy in the Form's
table list is no problem.
(3) Rather, when the renamed table is selected within the pasted Grid
control's Properties, the pasted control's structure is wiped out.
So, when everything "under the covers" is the same in both tables, how
might one get the Grid control to accept the switch?
BTW is the term "intermediate description" the clue here? New to me.

ANY SELECTED object can be copied / pasted, by either right click
context menu or Ctrl-C. You can save the intermediate description of
