Tip of the Day: Capturing Privileges for Database Users
Product: R:BASE 11
Build: 11.0.2.20107 or higher
Section: Functions
Keywords: TINFO, OWNER, Privileges, USER
Did you know the TINFO function was enhanced to return privileges for a
specified database USER?
The TINFO function was enhanced to specify a USER name for the first
parameter to return those privileges.
Table and column privileges are returned as a comma-delimited string of the
access rights based upon the current USER or for a specified USER name by
the database OWNER. In most instances, table and column privileges are
identical. Cases where they are not are auto number columns (no INSERT),
computed columns (no INSERT or UPDATE), and where the UPDATE privilege was
granted to specific columns only.
Example:
-- Column privileges for Mary are returned for the InvoiceDetail table
R>SET VAR vUserPrivileges = (TINFO('Mary',41,-1))
R>SHOW VAR vUserPrivileges
SELECT, UPDATE, INSERT, DELETE, REFERENCE
Very Best R:egards,
