Klez is indeed a nasty virus but your antivirus software should be able to
catch it. Many time, antivirus software will not detect viruses if they came
through an e-mail attachment that you opened, they recommend downloading the
attachment to a file which the antivirus software seems to handle better.
Sometimes, you will have to remove certain virus manually by deleting
certain files and editing the Registry (a royal pain in the a$$), check you
provider web site for instructions. I use Mcafee On-Line which is on all the
time as I am connected via DSL, it downloads data files (with virus
signatures) as often as twice a day, which gives you an idea of how many new
viruses show up every day. Recently, I had to remove the Nimda and OpaServer
viruses manually as the antivirus software would detect them and remove them
but they regenerate unless (as I said before) you manually remove them. The
OpaServer propagates through the shared printers in the network, if you are
having problems printing, over the network, you may want to check for this
particular virus.
To quarantine a file is similar to the medical term, the file is put in
isolation in a protected directory that only the antivirus software can
access, there should be an option on your antivirus software that allows you
to look at the quarantined files and clean them or, if necessary safely
erase them.
I would stick with one of the established antivirus such as McAfee, Norton
or other from  well known software companies. I would visit their web sites
where they have extensive information about what the different viruses do;
they also have a group where you can e-mail (or forward) a file that you
suspect has a virus and they will check it for you, you may want forward the
email that you received to them and see what they say.
 Viruses cause innumerable and costly problems to computers users and they
tend to happen at the worst possible time; I have seen clients incur huge
expenses when hit by virus that somehow bypassed extensive security measures
in place. I have written my congressman about passing legislation increasing
the penalties for the criminals that create them.
As you can see, I am full of good news...

I regularly get emails that cause Norton Antivirus to warn me that the
WormKlez virus is embedded in the message, that it can't fix it, so it
recommends that I "quaranteen" it, whatever that means.

Today I received this email, with an attachment. (I have NOT opened the
attachment).

Sounds fishy to me - any one heard of this?
