Hello Everyone,
Just returned last night from Razzak's two day boot camp on 7.0. Wow! He
presented for two days and we saw very few problems. There were a few
(very few) cosmetic things on Saturday and his crew, sitting in the back of
the room, had them fixed by the time Razzak started on Sunday. Mike did
the Application Express presentation on Sunday afternoon and it too had a
couple of cosmetic issues which I'm sure were in the 7.0 patch that was
published after midnight last night. Can't beat that turn around with a stick.
Four of the SWORBUG crew where there. Three for a second "remedial" class
and me for the first go round. The other three had taken the class in June
of 2002. All three agreed that the product is light years ahead of where
it was last June. I am finishing up a 13 month contract here in Dayton at
the end of January and can't wait to begin working with 7.0 beginning in
February. It is the most amazing release I've seen since I first picked up
the product in the early 80's and realized what potential I was looking at!
Some people might say, after using this new version, "hey, this isn't
really database development, it's too easy." Well folks, get familiar with
this 7.0 version and you can provide solutions to your clients that you
never dreamed were possible. I still can't get over how easy it is to
build the database, forms and reports. 7.0 now contains robust world class
tools. Don't miss the Conference in April I've got a feeling it is going
to be a doozy! I'm still catching my breath and digesting the
possibilities after what I saw this weekend. I did take the liberty of
talking to the Radisson management before I left about installing sock
catchers on all exits from the building.
