You shouldn't be at all embarrassed... I learned about starting trace 
in command files on this list (along with nearly every other neat 
concept I know...).

Not to beat this to death, but there is an undocumented (I think) 
use of trace while in forms. If you press [Shft]-[Ctrl]-[F12] just prior 
to activating an eep in forms, trace will start with the eep. Really 
handy for quick and dirty debugging. That tip also came from this 
list, but I don't recall to whom I should give credit.
