You can simply update the front end database. In addition, "A" has an extremely annoying quality when linking tables in two databases -- the linked database path is stored in the linkage. This means trouble if you want to move the linked database or if the development machine and the deployment machine have different directory structures. Since "R" will SCONNECT via an ODBC DSN, you have a level of abstraction so that the databases can be placed in different directories on different machines. -- Larry
