I haven't tried an ODBC install yet with my 6.5 CD. I don't even remember which version of 6.5 it is because all my upgrades were done via downloaded patches. Am I going to have the same problem when I try the ODBC install from that CD?
Do you think the 6.5++ installer fix my 6.1 problem?

You can install the 6.5++ (Build:1.864xRT03) and higher for Windows with the latest R:BASE ODBC Driver.
Using that driver, you'll have no problem SCONNecting and/or SATTACHing any 6.x database as long as database include the ODBC/SQL compliant SETtings, such as QUOTES, SINGLE, MANY and IDQUOTES.
