Karen...
You are not alone with this problem, running 6.5++ for windows and have ugly buttons also.  Doing the 256 color thing does not help... Only makes other colors ugly too.
Have 5 desktops  & 2 laptops running XP Pro, all have it.

Karen

Dont be an exception CONVERT TO DOS 6.5++ and you dont have to worry about stuff like that!

Sorry for not being sincere on the subject, but being sincere wait for 7.0 since the little I have seen you will have to think twice once a again how to present a nice screen, with a lot more possibilities

Rick:

Well it figures I'd be the exception.  I tried the Win98 compatibility setting.  Played
around with 256 colors and 'disable visual effects'.  All combos and I still get the
multicolored buttons.  Is this the only place with 'color settings'?

I have tried this same procedure on 7 different computers running R:Base v6.5++ (for windows) and XP.  It worked on each one of them.

You might want to work with different compatibility settings as well as different color settings.
