Title: RE: [RBASE-L] - Re: Visio 2002

Thanks Stan

Seems like you've been going round in ever decreasing circles as well.
Like you say, the "Generic ODBC driver" seems to get used in the database wizards, which then go horribly wrong.
I've tried a couple of the database macros as well and they seem to connect using the R:Base driver. But the end result is still an error like:

"The database wizard cannot generate new masters because the selected database table contains no records."
Bizarre.
I'll let you know if I find anything that works.

I have the same problem with MS Visio Professional 2002.  It refuses to connect to R:Base 6.5++ via Oterreo 2.0.  The error messages are similar to yours.  A prior verson (I cannot remember which, but it might be the one before MS purchased Visio) did work well with R:Base. Visio 2002 works without problem with Access databases, of course.  I suspect the problem is the Visio "Generic ODBC driver" (in Reverse Engineer Wizard), which is inherent in Visio and is not included in the list of drivers in my Windows XP Professional installation (you can see the whole list of Windows installed ODBC drivers in the Windows Registry:  Run REGEDIT -- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ODBC\ODBCINST.INI\ODBC Drivers\  ).

Stuck?  Me too.

Subject: [RBASE-L] - Visio 2002

Hi All
I'm curious to know whether any of you use Visio2002 to reverse engineer/document your databases.
I've used Visio5 a fair bit and it seems quite happy to get along with the rbase odbc driver.
Visio2002 on the other hand refuses to play with either my database or Concomp.
I can see the tables, but when I try to import them the process fails with:
Data source client error:S1002,Native:2684,Origin:[RBTI][R:BASE ODBC Driver][newboard]-ERROR-Invalid column number.(2684)

I'm using 6.5++ 1.864xRT03 running on WinXP SP1.
The rbase driver version/date is 6.50.00.03 / 31/01/2003.
Thanks anyone.
