I don't know either, Steve - I had hoped that more people might have said something, one way or the other, so that some sort of conclusion could be drawn - but maybe nobody else has (noticed if they have) a path or file name that contains a reserved word.

On one hand I can't see why it should make any difference but on the other I can half-understand that it might. I don't think it really matters either way - as long it's documented if it does matter.

In the mean time, if anybody has a problem it's one more thing to consider...

(As far as I know, for R:Code/Style to recognise any reserved word in the path or file name it has to be the name, or its abbreviation, between a either one or both of a slash or period and/or the line end.)

Regards,
Alastair.

Subject: [RBASE-L] - Funny That You Should Mention It ...

Alistair, it is actually funny - not funny ha-ha, but funny strange - that you've encountered this.  It seems to mesh well w/some prob's I've encountered, although I could be wrong.  However, there have been times in the past few months when I had written a LOAD_THIS_EXTRACT.CMD file to import data in to a table.  There were times when I invoked these that they wouldn't complete successfully.  Now, again, I might be wrong about the cause, but I have modified most of these over time and now I see that my naming convention has "evolved" such that they are all now LD_THIS_EXTRACT.CMD, rather than LOAD_THIS_EXTRACT.CMD.

Anyway, as my "LOAD" was part of the file-name rather than a member of the path-string, I could be way off the mark here.  I mention this because I could see how a path-string might be parsed differently fm the rest of a command-string.  Nevertheless, at the least, I am now forewarned about using reserved words in a path-string.
