If you are pulling R:base data into Excel, the R:base DSN needs to be a system DSN.
 
If you are pulling Excel data into R:base, then your Excel DSN needs to be a file DSN.

Your R:base DSN needs to be a SYSTEM DSN and not a FILE DSN.
