I agree with Javier.  The corruption is often caused by premature exits (sometimes 
known as ABENDs, for abnormal endings). The ABEND may be anything such as these from 
my experiences:

-Users shutting machine off rather than shutting down
-Bad network cards and/or cables
-Network cables running over a fluorescent light fixture (!)
   (installed by a so-called professional)
-Users running RBase DOS in XP, ME or W2K and running out of memory so as to lock up 
their system
-Three finger salute because a command file is taking too long to execute.
-Laptop users disconnecting the cable and connecting at another node without shutting 
R:Base down first.
   (blush. - it's ok with Windows programmes most of the time)
