Dos mode programs cannot see the usb port on your local computer. Remember full 
support for USB didn't come until win98, but not in dos mode. There are a few 
printers out there with both ports still. The HP Deskjet 5550 has both ports 
built in and works well in 4.5++. The commands below should work if your 
printer was being shared on a different computer
