Technically, there are no disadvantages to using one style over the other. It is just a matter of user and developer preference.
Application Designer offers an application wizard to help you design the portable (.RBA) application. The application based on form controls need detailed knowledge of using "Design Menu Bar...", TreeView and Drop-Down Menu controls. But, once you understand those native controls and more, you can design amazing applications.
Remember, we are only limited by our imagination!
