Duncan:
In my experience 6.5++ is a hybrid between DOS and Windows; 7.1 is a Windows
application and as such is bound to be a lot more stable than 6.5++ and I
believe that you will hear from all the developers that have migrated up to
7.1 that a lot of the problems of earlier versions have gone away.
If you have a choice run don't walk to 7.1, you will be pleased not only
with the reliability but also with the numerous upgrades and improvements;
after working with 7.1 I would not go back or develop a new system on 6.5++.

Subject: [RBASE-L] - Help - Rbase 6.5++ shuts down prematurely

I have been having a problem for some time. I will be in Object
Manager - Reports or Object Manager - Forms selecting records to
view/print. After several queries the program shuts down and the following
message is displayed "RBG65.EXE has encountered a problem and has to shut
down" and numerous files (ie 425d4d34.$$$) are written to the RBase65 sub
directory. This problem also happens when I run an application (written by
Application express). I am using Windows XP professional with Service Pack
one.

        Not being a programmer(outside Application Express)I don't
understand why this is happening but must say it is frustrating. I
experienced the same problems with earlier versions of Rbase and wondered if
I have an incorrect setting. I was thinking of upgrading to Rbase 7 but want
to ensure this problem won't continue.

        Any help would be appreciated.

Duncan
