Razzak,

I tried it on another machine using 7.5 build 7.5.25.30725 as well as 7.1 build 7.1.81.31005 (am assuming the last and latest) which the latter was on another system. They both acted the same. Whenever, one trys to change a text column (within the Data Browser or at the R: Prompt) from WHE to whe or WHE it fails with a syntax error or 2367. These test were done with a new database and new table which even has only one text column of 8 characters. The table will take WHEN or WHEE or anything other then the three character WHE, namely in the change to procedure.

Thanks,
Ken

Are we still having fun? I just tried it in one of my client's

That's in the browser. When I try to do an update at the R>
Prompt to set the value in a text field to 'whe', I get the
error message "columnname must be a valid TEXT (122)"

update notions set columnx = 'yyy' where columnx = 'xxx' WORKS
update notions set columnx = 'whe' where columnx = 'yyy' ERRORS

Sami,

That seems like a "Legacy Boo-Boo".

What update of R:BASE 7.5 for Windows are you using? <g>

I'm using R:BASE 7.5 for Windows, Build:7.5.25.30728, and
everything seems to work accordingly!

I'm glad that you had fun describing the entire scenario.

Very Best R:egards,

Razzak.
