I was able to set it to NULL as you suggested BUT I still can't set it back to be a blank. I get 43 occurances of the error message after go to the SET screen and hitting a space bar on the entry BLANK. Also tried it at the R> prompt but after setting it to NULL, the SET BLANK= command fails. With blank set to NULL, no multi word command will work now???? Ron
