Nope - I connected teh database, typed CD \RBDOS61a, typed FORMS and I'm kicked out.

Only possible hint is that when I'm in the menu and select VIEWS / CREATE MODIFY it says it can't find the help files.

I may try reinstalling from the old Microrim CD I have

Path includes the location of RBase 6.1a, c:\rbdos61a.
Any ideas what to look for?

In my experience you're in the right ballpark -- it's usually a pathing issue.

To confirm that, CD to the R:Base program directory with the database attached. Can you now work on forms and reports? If so, the path is definitely the problem.

Remember that R:Base must go near or at the very beginning of the path to avoid PATHs longer than R:Base can handle internally. Also, check your spelling -- I recently spent 20 minutes on just this issue because I wrote the path RB75DOS instead of RBDOS75 (or vice versa).
