Dennis,

The only potential danger I would see is that you have to be
careful and not violate v7.5 database size limitations.

v8.0 allows "names" to be up to 128 characters while v7.5 is
limited to 18.  V8.0 has a BIGINT data type v7.5 does not. 

Probably the Ideal would be to connect using OTERRO v8.0.  
I would NOT attempt and structure changes to the v7.5 database
via the OTERRO ODBC connection.  I would do that via RBase v7.5
.EXE.
