I was never one to make much use of keymaps, but are keymaps still valid in
7.6 where you could define them to a phrase? Like mapping the [F11] key to
"run rbase.dat" or something like that? In that case the user could be at the
R>
prompt and just hit [F11] to bring up the app.

Fred,
I used to have some KeyMaps set up to do that sort of thing, I think as far
back as v7.1, but I have never been able to get what I was doing then to work
in v7.5/6. It's not been exactly a problem for me as a single user so I haven't
bothered too much to try and find an alternative solution.
However, wouldn't it be nice if you could put some "user designed" buttons onto
the R:Base menu bar? Or, perhaps, caption buttons as you can in forms?
Something of that sort that could run specific code to exit the R:Prompt or
Browser and return the user to the application.
Just thinking out loud really...
Regards,
Alastair.

Subject: [RBASE-L] - Running a form with keystrokes?
Hello all,
I want to create a nifty opening form exactly like RRBYW14 to handle the
majority of tasks required of the database. But the reality is that some users
will still need to access Database Explorer and the R> prompt for more esoteric
tasks. I'd like to be able to easily "toggle" back to the opening form.
I know that I can simply RUN the form to bring it back up, but I'm wondering
if there's a clever way to do it, maybe with a key combination that's always
ready?
Any thoughts appreciated.
Fred
