Sami, I believe it changes with the rows. Have you explored using a variable list view? You can have different colors displayed all the time and even put a different image based on a criteria.
The down side is that the user needs to clik on a row to actually bring up an editable form but in the long haul I have found it to be a great way to do things. You could use the same method to display a colored box behind the column rather than the entire row.
