Paul, did the USB work in the same way as the keyboard wedge/wand-type?
It's been WAY LONGER THAN 3 YEARS for me since I did anything with barcode scanners, but do seem to recall that the way it worked was that the scanner scanned the barcode, then "input" the data along with a CR||CR/LF||LF, i.e. [Enter], just like a user at the keyboard. (I seem to recall that [some] scanners were configurable as to whether or not the "[Enter]" was part of the input to the system. Is that the way your USB scanner worked? I ask because my intended platform for this little -well, actually kinda' big - one off "charity" project is a laptop. I was thinking one of the Symbol devices, USB (hopefully, given the laptop), visible beam, of which I have found several variants selling for between $100-or-so and $200-or-so. I know this comes up on occasion, but does anyone have any recommendations and or experience using barcode readers to collect a series of numbers then uploading those to RB? I would like to collect a series of numbers that present in their physical sequence, i.e. FIFO, a number comes in, get scanned, followed by another.
