I have to admit that I go to the conference each year (years without
injuries, anyway) as much for the social aspects as for what I will learn from
the
presentations. I hate the over-used term "networking", so I won't, but it's a
huge part of the conference. I love meeting people for the first time that I
know from the email group (even ones with New Zealand accents), renewing
friendships from previous years. I think I hug more people at this conference
than
at any other function I attend during the year!! And lightbulbs did go on
above my head during several of the presentations, and I eagerly look forward
to v9.

The hotel was amazing, and well worth doing for this "special" 10th
anniversary event. The hotel staff was so friendly and helpful, my room was
beautiful.
The food at the banquet was really good!

I kept the blog up on my laptop during the entire conference. I've gone
through all the pictures, downloaded the ones I want to keep. You did a great
job, Emmitt! I think the pictures added alot to the experience, and I hope we
are able to do that again!

I started working with Laurie Jackson on a new client about 6 months ago, and
she attended the conference for the first time. She's not a programmer,
she's a business consultant, and just wanted to "see" what people were doing
with
RBase and get an idea of how some of the add-ons work. She told me that she
was impressed by the presentations and what people have done with RBase, and
told me right away of other clients who have projects that she think would lend
themselves to RBase. She said she was worried about not knowing anyone, but
told me that she met alot of nice people there, had plenty of people to talk
to. She was very impressed with how "nice" everyone was.
