Alastair, RBTI is marvelous, is it not? I sent in a stripped down sample
and left for the weekend, with a note to a client to download the latest
version as soon as it appeared. I checked after returning late last
night, and all was well. Talk about quick fixes. This was phenomenal.
Thanks to Razzak and the Dream Team. I wish some of my other software
vendors were one tenth as good.

I guess that most of the people on this list have seen the
commendations or had the experience personally of the quick resolution
of a bug that's been found.
Equally, I guess most have become a little blasé over the last few
years and now expect a high level of service without really thinking
about it anymore. Indeed, that says a great deal about the way these
things are resolved.
Nevertheless, there are times when something happens that needs a
special mention:
On Thursday evening (here in the UK) I saw Albert Berry's post about a
possible problem with the LISTOF command. You may have seen it and my
response. I had spent most of that day trying to work out why I was
having a problem in a form. Minutes before Albert's e-mail arrived I
had come to the conclusion that LISTOF was part of my problem but I
could not see anything actually wrong.
A couple of hours later after looking more closely at my code I had
concluded that there was an intermittent problem where LISTOF seemed
to return a space when I knew that was incorrect.
I have to say my heart sank. I know how dispiriting it is to be told
that there's an intermittent problem with little or no evidence. Yet I
thought it might be of use to report my findings to RBTI mainly just
in case what I had to offer helped with Albert's, by then, logged
problem. I declined to offer any examples because there was really
nothing which I could give other than my observations in trace and the
watch variables. I was resigned to waiting to see if the solution to
Albert's problem was also going to solve my problem.
On Friday morning I got an e-mail from RDCC. I was expecting to be
told - quite rightly - that I would have to provide more evidence and
it was in my mind to try and do so over this weekend.
Imagine my surprise, not to mention delight, when I read:
Your submitted bug has been fixed and all updates are now available
on-line. http://www.rupdates.com
I don't know about any of you but I think that is above and beyond
anything that could even be wished for. Barely twelve hours had
passed. It doesn't matter if it was the simplest problem to resolve or
if it was the same as Albert's - there was no fuss, no questions just
a solution with a request to test and report back. Needless to say my
report back was that everything worked fine again.
I have thanked directly both RDCC and Razzak but a public "thank you"
was also appropriate for the obvious reason as well as to close the
thread and, with Razzak's permission, advise anybody else that there
is a new update available from the link above if you think you might
have a problem with LISTOF.
Regards,
Alastair
