Razzak, before reading your email, I added a WHILEOPT OFF line to
the RBENGINE76.CFG file and restarted RB. WHILEOPT was OFF. As a
test, I took the line out and RB started with WHILEOPT ON, the
default. It seems to me that RB read the WHILEOPT OFF from the CFG
file.

Doug,

Did you notice my reference to RBASE.CFG and not RBEngine.CFG,
RBEngine75.CFG, RBEngine76.CFG, RBEngine8.CFG, RBEngine90_32.CFG,
or even RBEngine90_64.CFG?

Has the WHILEOPT ON/OFF perhaps been enabled in a change from
RBASE.CFG to RBENGINE76.CFG?

Wayne Erickson and Alex Ageev (members of my R:DreamTeam) have done
amazing things with the latest and greatest versions of R:BASE!

FWIW, I started RBG 7.6 by clicking RBG76.EXE from the \RBTI\RBG76
folder, thus avoiding any *.DAT files; no database was connected.
(RBG76 ver 31229).

I am hoping that your modified RBEngine76.CFG is in C:\Windows folder.

If not, you are going to see newly created RBEngine76.CFG files in
every default folder where R:BASE starts, with the only exception
when using "-A" option or deploying Runtime/R:Compiled applications.

Tangential question: Do the settings in the CFG file need to be
in a particular order? To make it easier, I was going to put the
Displays settings in alpha order but thought I'd better check 1st.

Personally, I wouldn't recommend mucking with R:BASE configuration
file sequence. However, you are welcome to experiment, and let us
know. Make a backup copy or let R:BASE create a fresh CFG file for
you.

On a side note, have you noticed new "Configuration Setting" panel?

Database Explorer | Main Menu | Settings | Configuration Settings...

Very Best R:egards,

Razzak.
