Dameware Utilities has a lot of cool features for network administration,
but it is the Mini-Remote Control feature (using their own protocol) that we
use when moving files. They also provide a remote control using RDP
(Windows protocol).

We use VNC Free version a lot when file transfer is not needed because the
screen refresh and mouse response is faster and smoother to locations with
less bandwidth.

Dameware can also copy files from remote to host or host to remote. VNC is
great but I believe the free version does not copy files. Paid version
does.

Gunnar,

In addition to VNC we use Dameware. Not free, but the advantage is that
there need be nothing installed on the client in advance – Dameware can
“push” itself onto the client and then start the service from remote.

Sorry to bother about a non R:Base issue.

I am a happy user of Remote desktop (XP operating system)

When I connect to the remote desktop, the remote desktop are closed down.

Many times that is OK, but sometimes I would like the remote user to see
what I am doing for educational purpose.

Can I define somehow within MS environment or do I need a 3:third party
software?

I know this is not R:Base but it is needed to support R:Base
