It appears the forms in this DB are stored
uncompressed, but compression is set on. It could be a different setting here
and at the client site. What is the default? What are the
advantages/disadvantages to form compression?

Compressed is better because it loads faster and because the form code cannot 
be read by anyone.  The only disadvantage is that sometimes it's convenient to 
be able to edit the form's underlying definition directly (for instance, when 
updating 7.1 forms to 7.6, I like to go in and change all the list boxes to 
list views without have to redefine them in the form editor.

Whether an individual form is compressed or not is determined by the setting of 
Use Forms Compression when you save the form.  If I want to "uncompress" a 
form, I set forms compression off, edit the form, wiggle a control, and save 
it.  Then, when I'm done, I turn compression off and do the same to compress it 
again.
