But Bräck recovered enough to race at Indy again two years later, and had the fastest qualification time, faster than pole-sitter Tony Kanaan (but not on "pole" day, so he wasn't on the pole), and three miles per hour faster than Helio qualification time this year. Bräck retired from racing after that, but he and his rock band (named "Bräck") performed at the Motor Speedway two years ago, probably on the Friday before the race.
