Using R:BASE for DOS? That alone will create a problem with R:BASE 7.6 for Windows database managed by the latest R:BASE Engines (RBENGINE76.DLL) vs. the LEGACY DOS versions of R:BASE handling and storing INDEXes the old way. What exact version and build of R:BASE for DOS is being used in combination with R:BASE 7.6 for Windows database? Does the client have licenses to use both versions of R:BASE for DOS and Windows?
