It's grayed out because folders generally can't be read-only. It's grayed 
out because the read-only property of a folder either makes all files in the 
folder read-only, or not read-only.

I just check and mine is like that also. However it is kind of a grayed out 
read-only. You would have to ask Uncle Bill Gates on that one. I am running 
XP but it’s also true on Vista. 
 
I guess its time to get a bigger hammer. Maybe if you hit the mouse with it 
will stay unchecked J

This may be a good time to ask this question. 
 
I'm having R:BASE place it's temp files in the C:\Temp folder.
When I look at the properties of that folder , the Read-Only attribute
is always checked.
 
If I de-select it and apply changes it always resets. This seems to be the
case for all my computers on the network.
 
I'm not sure what the issue is.
