Remember several of you helped me try to figure out how to work with a "unicode text" file for import. It had an .xls extension but was not an excel file, and appeared to be tab delimited, but gateway still didn't like it.
I tried launching a batch file that had: TYPE sms.xls > sms.tab Then bring it in using Gateway TAB and it works! Don't know what the magic of DOS "typing" it is, but it worked. So now my client doesn't have to bring up 6 of these files and re-save as csv files, and they're happy. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction! Karen
