All that said, R:Base's front-end development tools are a huge asset. Rolling your own against MySql gives you an immense amount of choice and flexibility, but can also soak up boat loads of time depending on what you're trying to accomplish. So I'd say that unless you need to do something that doesn't work elegantly under R:Base your customers probably don't want to pay you what it would cost to re-write your app.
How eloquently said, Ben! Personal and first hand experience is a great teacher. Did you ever wonder why BIG Corporations, Government Agencies, Educational Institutions are still using R:BASE? Do you know there are individuals with full-time jobs, making a good living, because of R:BASE? Do you know how many times corporations, agencies, and institutions have brought in so-called MS SQL and ORACLE consultants, wasting hundreds and thousands of dollars, just to replicate the R:BASE functionality? Not to mention the time to replicate (in years) and estimated cost. After wasting time and money, guess what happened? I am sure you can figure it out. Sometimes, that's a good lesson to learn so they can really appreciate what R:BASE is, and how R:BASE has lived up to their highest expectations. The evolution and making of R:BASE Turbo V-8, and now R:BASE eXtreme 9.0 (64) is the result of such demand and cooperation between our BIG customers and R:BASE Technologies. The BEST is yet to come! Very Best R:egards, Razzak.
