Because we had checked out everything else, I opened a form and
looked at the font. It was blank.
Simple as that.
I deleted the font, loaded one from another computer and all was well
in Rbase land.

Well guys, we just found it.. The Ariel true type font was
corrupted, so
the system was using the closest
type font. Re-installed Ariel and solved the problem... How often would
that happen.
