Likewise, what Emmitt and Steve said.

I think some readers do this by default, but sometimes it requires a set
of configuration codes to be scanned. These are usually supplied in the
documentation for the scanner. I could be wrong, but sometimes the type
of barcode might have the CR/LF embedded in its data/suffix.

What little I know I learned by having had the same experience you had.

Additionally, if you are ever in a retail-type store at opening, you
might see a check-out person flip to the back of a binder and scan some
codes. That may be part of configuring the scanner at power-up.

Anyway, now I keep a set of doc's and/or a copy of the codes I need for
my Symbol scanner with the scanner, always.

Anybody done anything with scanning those "fancy" Maxicode and PDF417
barcodes, which are available to us, at least in RBx9?

Subject: [RBASE-L] - Receiving barcode input..

Using a barcode reader as input. Currently using the Dialog command in
an EEP to receive the barcode read data. But, find that one has to
select whether to accept or cancel this input via a keyboard entry. The

cancel is not needed. Is it possible to continue once the barcode is
read and accepted by the Dialog command (without having to provide a
keyboard entry to fulfill the Dialog Option Button Ok)? Or perhaps
there is another command that could be used rather then Dialog to
receive the barcode data..

DIALOG 'Scan for Barcode: (Blank For Accession Number)' +
   vresp vendk 1 +
CAPTION 'Signout or Return Book Using Barcode (ESC to Exit)' +
   ICON QUESTION OPTION |BUTTON OK

Thanks, Ken
