Emmitt, Steve and Steve,

Yep, you fellows just brought this back to me. Some 15 or perhaps more
years ago, when I was employed I had a similar situation, but due to the
aging process I had forgotten all about it. By the way, at that time I
was using one of the earlier versions of R:Base, perhaps ver 3 or 4 or
somewhere around that. Now, (using the fabulous eXtreme 9.) I will have
to download and print the Symbol Scanner documents. and setup the user
to initially prime the scanner at the beginning of the day. That should
not be a problem.

Thank you for your input and your guiding me into the right
direction.... I am using a Symbol LS2208 USB scanner.

Ken

Same as Emmitt - the clients I have that are using bar code readers are
set
for a carriage return.

Using a barcode reader as input. Currently using the Dialog command in
an EEP to receive the barcode read data. But, find that one has to
select whether to accept or cancel this input via a keyboard entry. The

cancel is not needed. Is it possible to continue once the barcode is
read and accepted by the Dialog command (without having to provide a
keyboard entry to fulfill the Dialog Option Button Ok)? Or perhaps
there is another command that could be used rather then Dialog to
receive the barcode data..

DIALOG 'Scan for Barcode: (Blank For Accession Number)' +
   vresp vendk 1 +
CAPTION 'Signout or Return Book Using Barcode (ESC to Exit)' +
   ICON QUESTION OPTION |BUTTON OK

Thanks, Ken
