Peter, So sad to hear of Bill's passing. Every time I saw him at one of the conferences he always had a smile on his face or something funny to say. My condolences to his family and to you for the loss of your friend and colleague.

Many people on this R Base list knew Bill for more then a decade. Bill's passion in life was R Base DOS. He retained valuable sequel strength and R prompt use and will very soon be realized a significant loss to Catholic Cemeteries of the Diocese of Rockville Centre were he literally worked until the end of the day yesterday applying updates to our Turbo 8 windows application programs. Bill was meticulous in taking good care of multiple databases and application programming needs always doing more for the end user's needs. Bill was sincerely impressed and amazed by talented and creative people within the R Base Community and because of your dedication and kindness to him --- in my heart I feel many of you kept Bill going and continuous motivated him to be a better person - a better programmer. --- Dos Man you will be missed by many.
