Is there a file association in your computer for the file extension in question?
If you click on the file from windows explorer, does the operating system know

When I issue the command;
Launch &vfile
I get an error message "THE SPECIFIED FILE WAS NOT FOUND"
If I issue the command;
Launch .vfile I get the same error.
