I just upgrades my server from windows 2003 to windows 2012 server. It is much faster. Of course, lots of things make a difference in performance like gigabit network, anti-virus exceptions, server build, etc.
On the newer windows 7 pcs with i5 processors there used to be a delay when connecting to the database. Not no more. I read some topics about oportunisc locking, and my question is: can be that feature of Windows Server and client the reason of the slow behavior?
