Hi All - A client set up RB 7.6 on one of their workstations for accessing a network database. All his workstations run from a server installation of 7.6, but when setting up the workstation, he did a full installation on the workstation. When he tried to connect to the network db, he got "Database is connected in a mode..." and cannot connect.

I uninstalled the local (C:\RBTI\RBG76) RB 7.6 and created a desktop icon, including the -a, using "Desktop Shortcut Properties" under "Server Installation" of the "Getting Started Guide". R:Base starts up, but still cannot connect to the db.

The weird thing is he cannot connect to ANY db, even ones (backups) that we know are not connected to, although he doesn't get the "mode" message, he just cannot connect.

The user on that workstation has full rights to program and data subdirectories.
Scratch is an existing C:\TEMP, from which I deleted all *.$$$ files.
I also checked for errant RBASE.DAT or config files on the local drive and mapped network drives.
And we rebooted a few times too.
RB is running fine on the other workstations.

So what's the obvious that I'm not seeing that prevents this workstation from connecting to a db?

TIA
Doug
