Doug,
One more thing you can try. When you are ready to run the installation
executable, right click on the program and select "Run as
Administrator;" it might ask you for an administrator login and
password it you are no already one. It has worked form me in the past
in situations when I ran into installation issues.

Thanks for the suggestions Bruce.
1. Good idea: I'll practice on my own workstation registry (I have an
ok comfort level with that) and server registry (very carefully!).
I haven't asked RBTI directly, all my posts have been here
publicly, but... RBTI - any comments?
2. I was wondering about the Administrator login, but since 9 of the
40-odd files were installed, I didn't think that was the issue. I've
been wrong before.
3. I'll check on the a/v software; hopefully that's the answer. It
would be the easiest fix.
Results to follow.
Thanks again,
Doug

A few thoughts:
1.Not for the inexperienced or unwary: Have you examined the registry
for trash left behind by Add/Remove? Have you asked RBTI if this may
be a factor?
2.Also, a User with "administrative rights" is not necessarily an
"Administrator". A direct Administrator logon will answer that;
3.Is there an anti-virus or "security suite" running on the server? It
might be doing it's job.
Good hunting.

Still no luck with this installation.
I "uninstalled" it via Add/Remove Programs (there was nothing to
uninstall, so I opted to remove RB95 from the the uninstall menu),
deleted the 9 files from the network subdirectory and checked security
permissions - all are there, incl Full Control.
Deleted the subdirectory and created a new one with a different name.
Tried another Server Install but again, only 9 files were written.
RBuninstall doesn't do anything.
Bad installation CD? (Obviously a desperation question :)
Any blues clues news?
TIA,
Doug

Nope, no rbengine95_32.dll on the server or local C: drive.
I searched for rbeng*.* and did find the 7.6 dll's & configs on
the server.
Thanks,

If you're using the -a switch then the .dll must be in the
same directory
as the RBase exe files

Thanks for your r:eply Razzak.
The first installation attempt was indeed an incorrect "full
installation" from a VPN remote workstation targeting an RBASE95 folder
on the remote server. The VPN was slow, so rather than rerun the
install again, we shipped the 9.5 installation CD to be onsite.
With the RB CD on-site, I ran the installation from a workstation on the
LAN and did select "Server Installation" (per section 2.5) from the
components dialog, targeting the same RBASE95 folder on the server. The
installation was incomplete as mentioned below.
I then did an uninstall from the Control Panel and manually deleted all
9 files from the RBASE95 folder, then tried to install again - without
success.
There are no error messages during installation, although the
installation goes pretty quickly - commensurate with the number of files
found in the RBASE95 folder.
Any other clues for the blues?
Thanks much,
Doug
