Isn't that true, Javier! PDF files, TXT files.... even I'm guilty for doing .TAB files to unload data for temporary tables for easy testing... Right now for one of my clients, whose code we moved totally internal, there were still over 1,000 external files in the database directory. Since I know none of them are program code, every month or so I move all the files into another network directory and everyone knows to look there if they can't find it in the database directory.

I try to keep the files to a minimum and I have done away with all external files as much as practical. Even external files I need to run external applications/plugins I keep in the database, create a temporary file as needed and then delete the temporary file. Users tend to create a lot of PDF files of reports in the database directory and I have to periodically clean up the directory and move files. I have to figure out a way (maybe there is already an easy way) to prevent users from using the database directory for storage. Just one startup program and not a single other file! One of the biggest enhancements from version 7.x on -- 4 database files and 1 startup file. Love having only 5 files in my database directory! So portable, so easy to backup! Create an eep, keep it in the same directory and use Run C:\ 'Where-ever' Works like a charm for me, and easy to edit. Dick Fey Carpet Broker Inc
