Dear R:BASE Community,
A new and welcome feature in R:BASE X for Windows is the enhanced Object
List Toolbar,
which provides users with increased organization and navigation of
available controls
for the Form/Report/Label Designers.
Any user who has launched the Form and Report Designer, and was immediately
overwhelmed
by the number of buttons can appreciate the new toolbar!
The form/report controls are arranged in groups, which can be collapsed and
expanded.
Hints appear for the control name when hovered over with the mouse, but the
captions
(names) for the controls can be turned on and off to see all control names
at once.
The "Favorites" portion of the toolbar, which allows users to customize
their favorite
and commonly used items onto a single panel, is located on the top of the
list, so
items are never hard to find!
To also assist with adding objects is the Control List utility [Ctrl+Alt+P]
to easily
find and add available controls. The feature provides a component filter,
e.g. typing
"button" reduces the list to only button-type controls or typing "bar"
reduces the list
to only barcode controls, so locating what to add is easier than ever!
Aside from adding new items, the "Existing" tab of the Object List Toolbar
is helpful
in finding and reviewing the properties of form/report objects. In the Form
Designer,
the objects can be filtered by control type (e.g. DB, Variable, Standard)
and by parent
control (e.g. Panel, Group Box, Collapse Panel, Tab), allowing any object
to be located
quickly, especially where a great number of items are used. In the Report
Designer, the
objects are grouped based upon Sub Report and the band in which they reside.
Managing forms and reports will be duck soup with R:BASE X and R:BASE X
Enterprise!
