Tony,

Take a close look at the syntax created by Crystal Report.

>SELECT
> Salesinf.`empid`, Salesinf.`xtransdate`
>FROM
> `Salesinf` Salesinf
>WHERE
>    Salesinf.`xtransdate` = {d '1996-11-23'}

Is that an SQL command? ... The answer is NO.

The extra garbage "{d" is inserted by Crystal Report.

Have them fix it, to be in compliant with SQL <g>.

R:BASE and OTERRO cannot either translate nor understand
any garbage inserted by any third party tools. Can't do
any magic there.

In a situation like that, when THEY cannot fix their
stuff, and you have to use third party tools to query
any SQL database, I would suggest to use PASSTHROUGH
option. That would not add any extra character(s) and
simply pass the SQL query statement as:

SELECT
    Salesinf.`empid`, Salesinf.`xtransdate`
FROM
    `Salesinf` Salesinf
WHERE
    Salesinf.`xtransdate` = '1996-11-23'

That's why all queries have the PASSTHROUGH option!

Hope that helps!

Very Best Regards,

Razzak.
