Aloha Stan,

Those -ERROR- messages are the result of different
default settings in OTERRO.CFG vs. RBASE.CFG file in
PATH.

Follow these steps to avoid those -ERROR- messages:

01. Using the Windows explorer, search for OTERRO.CFG
file(s) in PATH.

02. Make sure to keep/copy ONLY ONE OTERRO.CFG file in
C:\windows

03. Using any text editor, edit OTERRO.CFG file and make
sure that following settings are as below:

MULTI ON
TRANSACT OFF
AUTOCOMM OFF
AUTOCONV OFF
AUTORECO OFF
AUTOROWV OFF
AUTOSYNC OFF
AUTOUPGR OFF
COMPATIB ON

04. Make sure that above settings in OTERRO.CFG are
consistent with RBASE.CFG file in PATH, i.e:

MULTI ON
TRANSACT OFF
AUTOCOMM OFF
AUTOCONV OFF
AUTORECO OFF
AUTOROWV OFF
AUTOSYNC OFF
AUTOUPGR OFF
COMPATIB ON

05. When using Oterro 2000, I also recommend to keep
default RBASE.CFG in c:\windows.

In that case, you need to edit RBASE.INI file to
reflect that change, i.e:

CFGFile=C:\WINDOWS\RBASE.CFG

Also make sure you are only using one RBASE.CFG
file in PATH.

There you have it ...

Enjoy and make sure to have fun!

Note:

Among many engine level fixes and enhancements, the
upcoming upgrade version of Oterro 2000 (ver 2.5),
to be released on July 16, 2001, includes the fix
to create default OTERRO.CFG consistent with RBASE.CFG!

Very Best Regards,

Razzak.

What I want to do is to use Rbase 6.5+ (single user, Build 1.839xRT03) data in Excel 2000, via Oterro 2.0. I did the following: 1. I built a Rbase data source (System DSN) in Windows 98 ODBC Data Source Administrator using Oterro 2.0. I named this data source Rbase4Excel. 2. The Rbase database has the following ODBC-compliant settings: IDQUOTES ` QUOTES ' PLUS + SEMI ; MANY % SINGLE _ 3. In Excel 2000, I selected Data Get External Data -- New Database Query, and chose Rbase4Excel as the data source. The path shown is correct for the data source, and I supplied the correct password for the data source. Upon clicking the OK button, the following RBase error messages popped up in the MS Query message box: -Error- The database cannot be opened for recovery (1133) -Error- The current user identifier will not allow access to any table (2318) When I clicked OK, another error message said Couldnt read this file. The second attempt produced the following RBase error messages, shown in the MS Query message box: -Error- Encountered an invalid transaction id number (2341) -Error- The database is in a state which requires the recovery program (2405) I had to go into RBase and use RECOVER to correct the problem. What did I do wrong or miss? I appreciate your help in finding and removing this show stopper. Thanks. Stan Loo
