Yes, I have Norton on my laptop, but for some reason it doesn't seem to get
the Live Updates properly. I had to visit the site and install update
myself.

In this case I didn't get the virus through email. It came from another PC
on a LAN. The virus is able to spread to unprotected shares on the
network -- it modifies your autoexec.bat file so you "install" the virus
when you next boot up. It was a couple of days before I figured out
something was going on.
