Obviously, if the INI file is read-only you cannot store any new information in it.
Probaly a good idea to test my idea to see if it causes any other problems. If not, the loss of recent file info is hardly a big deal. R:Base would do well to store dynamic data like recent files in the registry, rather than in the INI file. That is where most programs store this kind of information. The less you write to important files like this, the less chance there is of them being corrupted. -- Dennis McGrath mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] -- Tools for R:BASE programmers http://www.enteract.com/~mcgrath/dennis -- Full time consultant with SQL Resources mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Tom Grimshaw Sent: Sunday, November 18, 2001 6:30 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: RE: Placement of RBASE.CFG and RBASe.INI files G'day Dennis, So locating the rbase.ini file in a read only directory does not adversely affect R:BASE not being able to write the RecentFile1-5 lines into the file?
