Hi Mike,
The article is an R:Base Exchange Vol. 13 for Nov/Dec,1996. Yes it was
written by Dr. Razzak Memon. It is actually pretty simple to play a wav file.
Just set a variable to the file and then show it. Here is an example.
set var vGreeting = ['c:\sounds\wav\greeting.wav']
show var vGreeting = 1,1
The article also tells how to store files in the database.
This sounds like an ambitious project. I would not think R:Base is capable
of handling it. I do not think you could even get R:Base to answer the
phone. There are plenty of existing programs like the newest version of
FaxWorks that will answer the phone and play just about any wav file you
have. You can also set up a "button pressing merry-go-round" that will
respond with different wav files. You can program which files are played
and also set up a fax back system.
Best regards,
Mike Young
