Fabian,

If you are using The Glorious R:BASE 2000 (ver 6.5++) for Windows,
Build:1.842xRT03 or higher ... then, you have the following options:

01. LAUNCH FileName.WAV

OR

LAUNCH C:\Directory\FileName.WAV

02. (GETVAL('PlayAndWait','filepath'))
Will play sound/wave file and waits for the sound to finish
before continue to a next command. This could be a long time
if the sound file is long. You would want this if, for
instance, you're writing an answering machine application in
R:BASE for Windows 6.5++.

Example:

SET VAR vPlay = (GETVAL('PlayAndWait','c:\windows\media\tada.wav'))

03. (GETVAL('PlayAndExit','filepath'))
Will play sound/wave file and continue the next command in a
command file or EEP.

Example:

SET VAR vPlay = (GETVAL('PlayAndExit','c:\windows\media\tada.wav'))

If you using any other version of R:BASE for Windows, then, read the
article in Microrim's 15th Anniversary Exchange Journal Vol. 13 for
Nov/Dec,1996 - "R:BASE Plays WAV Files!".

Have Fun!

Very Best Regards,

Razzak.
